Unique Scrap & Auto, LLC (USA) will be re-opened on a Full Time basis and with a new Management team. The owner has assembled a team of highly experienced Metal Buyers & Recycling professionals to manage the almost 14 acre facility. ?The company will assume the management of the former Unique Auto yard which was at one time, home to one of the biggest collection of antique automobiles on the east coast.
?
From the 1950s through the late 90s, Jackson was home to a salvage and scrap yard that not too many people paid attention to. It was just another junkyard in another town. It had no real value to anyone other than those looking to unload their junk for some cash or people looking for that replacement windshield or quarter panel for their car. It was owned by Johnny Irons and was like any other junkyard of its day. Irons would keep a handful of newer model cars laying around for a few years until demand waned and he would scrap those cars for newer ones to keep up with people looking for parts for their cars. This continued through the 1980s when in 1998, Irons sold the yard to John C., a local resident.
?
John had bigger ambitions for the yard. After being involved in the automotive business his entire life, he wanted to do something different. Something nobody else was doing here in New Jersey. Something unique. So he purchased the yard and renamed it Unique Auto and Truck. Johns plan was not to continue the salvage and scrap business as usual, but to create a truly unique salvage yard, unlike any other in New Jersey. Instead of buying junk cars to sell for scrap, John began purchasing vintage cars from around the region. At one point, he subscribed to over a dozen car sales magazine and would make offers on anything he thought would have value to vintage car restoration junkies.
?
Within a few years, Unique Auto and Truck was the place everyone knew to go to if they were looking for that hard to find pre-1970s original automobile part. Eventually, the yard contained over 1,000 vehicles and was renown up and down the East Coast as one of the must visit yards in America. In 2006, Classic Cars and Parts Magazine, the industry standard trade journal featured John and his Unique yard. With so much recognition in vintage car circles, John fielded calls regularly from people who just wanted to walk around and look at the yard. To accommodate these automobile tourists who came to Jackson from around the world, John charged visitors $5 for a tour of the yard, good for as many tours as the person would like for an entire year.
?
Now all of Unique?s classic cars from the mid 20th century have either been sold, scrapped or donated to the Vintage Automobile Museum, operated by David?David DiEugenio, father of Jackson Memorial High School Principal Kevin DiEugenio. ?The elder DiEugenio is the director of the museum which has grown thanks to the generous donations of Unique.

As for the new yard, ?it will be offering highly competitive prices on junk vehicles & machinery, ferrous & non-ferrous metals, used auto parts, copper, aluminum, brass, acr?s, aluminum rims, transmissions, batteries, insulated wire, AC units, stainless steel, iron, and much more. They have joined forces with one of the top Catalytic Converter refiners, which allows USA to purchase Converters at above standard value. Besides the large inventory of used auto parts they plan to acquire, they have access to any part a consumer or business may need. They will also be purchasing & stocking classic and antique vehicles.
The Management states that they stand true to their motto, ?Our Business begins with ?U.? No customer is too big or small. We will maintain competitive pricing, honest business practices and assistance to our customers through incentives and referrals. A happy customer will return and spread the news to others.? ? ? ? The company has undergone and passed rounds of strict soil tests conducted by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and is scheduled to open this spring.
