Robin Roberts Talks Leave of Absence from Good Morning America

Robin Roberts previewed her upcoming leave of absence from Good Morning America last night, as the anchor will soon be taking a break to undergo treatment for a rare blood disorder.

"It's fascinating-slash-scary how to prepare yourself for something like this," Roberts, who has already survived breast cancer, said at the Television Critics Association press tour.

She will be off the air for awhile, starting late next month, to receive a a bone marrow transplant meant to treat myelodysplastic syndromes, a disease of the blood and bone marrow.

How is she feeling at the moment? Roberts admitted to "moments of fatigue," but she cited her program's recent ratings as a major elixir.

"The run that we've had has truly energized me," Roberts said. "It's pretty good medicine, I gotta say, to be taking!"

As for the "wonderful friends" who will be occupying this anchor's seat? Roberts said she looks forward to Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric and others sustaining the show's momentum alongside George Stephanopoulos.

We do, too. But we most look forward to the day a happy and healthy Roberts is back in that chair.
