Shropshire Council is reminding people of a workshop designed to give them all the information they will need if their home is at risk from flooding.?
The workshop, to take place on Thursday 24 January 2013 at Shirehall in Shrewsbury, will give people the chance to ask any questions they may have, as well as providing information on how to insure and protect their home, or get help writing a personal flood plan.?
Shropshire Council, Environment Agency, Mary Dhonau OBE, National Flood Forum, Severn Trent Water and Association of British Insurers will all be on hand at the event.?
People will be able to find out:?
- What their rights and responsibilities are
- Having flooded before, can they still get insurance?
- What they and their community can do to help protect their homes and possessions
- What types of products are on the market to help protect their home and/or business?
- How the planning process works.?
Mal Price, Shropshire Council?s Cabinet member responsible for flooding, said:?
?At Shropshire Council we are happy to set up this important event for the county.? It will give homeowners and residents a chance to question the experts over their flooding concerns.??
Mary Dhonau OBE, Chief Executive of the Know Your Flood Risk Campaign, said:?
?I encourage everyone at risk of being flooded to come along to the event and see how they can make moves to protect their homes from being flooded, find out about the future of flood insurance, and generally get up to date with all things flooding.??
Paul Cobbing, Chief Executive of the National Flood Forum, said:?
?This is a great opportunity to find out more about flooding, how it affects you, and what you can do to help protect yourself, your family and your community.??
