Samsung Galaxy S3 Screen Goes Dim When Browser Launches [How To Fix]

?Hi Droid Guy.. My Galaxy S3 dims its screen when I open my browser. Is there a solution to this problem??

Though it?s not a problem with neither the software nor the hardware, many owners have been bugged by this issue ever since Samsung Galaxy S3 was released way back 2012. There were reports suggesting there was a bug with the stock browser of the Galaxy S3 that causes it to go dimmer when it launches.

There was not!

Depending on the variant you received, the stock browser in your unit may have been set by your provider to go a little dimmer while the user is browsing the web. Thus, it can be fixed or corrected without having to put the phone at risk.

First off, try to look into the power saving mode to see if it makes a difference.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Power Saving option.
  4. Disable this option by sliding the button to the left.

With this feature disable, try to launch the stock browser to see if the screen still goes dim. If it doesn?t, then you have your problem solved. However, your phone might become a power hog depending on the use. If you still want the device to use the power saving mode, enable it back but uncheck the Screen Power Saving option.

If the procedure above wouldn?t work for you, try the following:

  1. Launch the stock browser.
  2. Press the Menu key.
  3. Choose Brightness and Color option from the list of menu.
  4. Now set it according to your needs.

Basically, the Brightness and Color option under the browser settings is also under the phone?s power-saving mode. The first procedure will disable all power-saving functions you may have set in the device, thus, 95% of the time it would solve this kind of problem. The second procedure, on the other hand, is an app-specific power-saving feature.

Again, one of the disadvantages of disabling the Power Saving option in Galaxy S3 is that the battery could drain faster than before. However, if you are a light user, more often there is just a little difference on how long the phone could stay powered up. Therefore, depending on how you use your phone, you can enable / disable the power-saving feature on your phone or select one of the options.
