Weekend run opportunities 9/8/12 ? Lake Effect Run Club

Hi everyone and another welcome to those that are recently new to the club. This weekend, our group run will again be in Liverpool. The meeting spot will be outside of Cafe @ 407 located on Tulip St (near Liverpool Library). As usual, the main group will depart Saturday at 8am, please show up a little early to say hello and to not miss the pre-run announcements. ALL paces are welcome, we have runners that train anywhere between 7min and 12min per mile. We also have walkers that will be with us too.

Afterwards, hang out for coffee and breakfast at the cafe.

Who?s in?

ARC Races 5K/ Half Marathon in Long Branch Park in Liverpool, NY on Saturday 9/8/12 @ 9:10am/9am

This is part of Onondaga Lake Park. This is support people with developmental disabilities. There?s family entertainment, health and wellness info. They have great prizes and medals. Past family fun zones have included hot air balloon rides, petting zoo, bounce castles, face painting, food and drink, and even Otto the Orange. There?s also a 3K Fun Walk.

Running for Recovery from Addictions 5K/10K run in Watertown, NY on Saturday 9/8/12 @ 10am

The name of this race speaks for itself. The event is held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Prizes to the top 3 in each 10 year age group. There will be post race food, entertainment, door prizes,? and raffles. This race supports a god cause.

1st Annual Cazenovia Country Trail Run in Cazenovia, NY @ Cazenovia High School on Saturday 9/8/12 Men 9am Women 945am

This is a challenging 4,800 meter trail race traversing woods, fields and small streams in the beautiful Fenner countryside. Proceeds to benefit the Cazenovia High School Girls Cross Country Program.

Lake Placid North Elba Half Marathon on Saturday 9/8/12 @ 9am

Don?t get this one confused with the one in June. This takes place from the North Elba Show Grounds. This half marathon provides runners from all over the country with a test of their summer training and also provides a warm up for the major fall marathons. Come and run where athletes are training for upcoming Winter and Summer Olympic Games. This is truly a unique and scenic race with views of the historical John Brown Farm and the 1980 Olympic Ski Jumps, as well as beautiful views of nature that only the Adirondacks can offer. New course this year.

Ithaca ?5 & 10? 5 mile/10 mile on Sunday 9/9/12 @ 9am/9:15am

Run through downtown Ithaca, residential, and park areas of the City. The 5 mile race is a single loop course, while the 10 mile race is a double loop. The course is FLAT and FAST and will be well marked. Water stations will be available. Traffic will be controlled by Police and marshals. 1 mile Family Fun Run is on sidewalk and grass areas. An award will be given to the person who finishes at the middle-of-the-pack of both the 5 & 10 mile races. This award is dedicated to runners who run for the love of the sport. There are also age group awards and an award for the last place finisher in each race!

Mustang Stampede 5K /10K @ Willow Bay in Onondaga Lake Park on Sunday 9/9/12 @ 9am

This race is to support the Army and their families. This race is limited to the 1st 250 registering. This is the5th annual. After you complete the race, you get your t-shirt. The race is also open to military unit formations and to the public. You record your time at the scorers table after. Enter the park at the Long Branch road entrance. The race starts at the Bayview tent.
