? Job Description Purpose of Position: The primary role of a Family Involvement Instructional Resource Teacher is to build linkages among the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) and the community, parents and families in the Madison area with the ultimate goal of support student achievement. Facilitating communication between the District and the community is critical to the success of students. The Family Involvement Instructional Resource Teacher will facilitate the sharing of academic support and information regarding activities and initiatives within the District and community to improve successful academic outcomes for students and families.?
? Qualifications * Assist with articulation and coordination of District Elementary MMSD programming/resources serving students/families, existing parent/ family groups, and dual-immersion programming. * Participate as a member of the C & At Dept. and Division of Equity & Family Involvement and actively engage in all professional learning, staff meetings, projects and initiatives as requested. * Share information about District resources, interventions, programs, events/opportunities with families & the community, including programming/ service information about the Div. of EFI, Dept. of C & A, ESL & Bilingual Ed. & the Division of Special Ed. * Identify key community organizations/ resources serving students/families, & establish formal two-way communication where it does not currently exist. * Utilize background and prior experience in developing and implementing family engagement practices and programs. * Provide communication regarding key MMSD-related information to families & community at large in an appropriate and timely fashion & create mechanisms for effective two-way communication. * Track and report out on student data (achievement, attendance rates, drop-out rates, expulsion & suspension rates etc.), identifying emerging trends. * Work proactively with MMSD staff families to improve their ability to support student success & overall accessibility to school as well as increasing understanding regarding equity issues. * Collaborate with members of the Div. of EFI to plan/implement/evaluate models of professional development that integrate culturally relevant curriculum, instructional practices, assessment tools. * Participate on district level committees that promote high levels of student achievement aligned to the MMSD Strategic Plan. * Represent the Div. of EFI on school support teams to provide resources needed at the school level to meet the needs/goals of the school improvement plan.?

Requirements ** Wisconsin Dept. of Public Instruction Certification in teaching or pupil services (school psychologist, school social worker, school counselor), with mental health background. ** Excellent verbal and written communication skills ** Knowledge of MMSD strategic goals and program offerings ** Knowledge of Madison-area community organizations and resources ** Experience working collaboratively with multiple partner agencies ** Ability to work independently and as a member of a team ** Strong facilitation and problem-solving skills ** Experience working cross-culturally and/or a commitment to work toward improving one's own cultural competence, i.e., valuing difference/diversity, recognizing personal limitations in one's skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas. Experience with family engagement, preferred. ***Flexibility in schedule - must be able to work evenings/weekends for community events.?
