Specialized Trail Crew Application 2.0 ? The ... - Mountain Biking Girl

What?s this I hear? Specialized is looking for two good riders in Canada to join their Trail Crew?! I?ve been waiting for this day!

I live on Vancouver Island in Western Canada and here?s me in a nutshell, stolen from the ?About Me? section of this blog:

I?m your stereotypical ?everyday rider? who goes downhill better than I go up. It?s not about how good you are, it?s about getting out there and having a good time.

Why do I think I should be part of the Specialized Trail Crew? Well a lot of it has to do with this survey on women who mountain bike and how to attract more women to the sport. To sum it up since there?s a tonne of information in there, we need more women mountain bike ambassadors. Especially women, like myself, who just enjoy being on a bike and can show just how much fun it is! So many women view mountain biking as this hardcore, adrenaline sport and are too intimidated to try it. What they don?t see is it?s a sport that every woman out there can enjoy since there are so many different levels of mountain biking out there. They need someone real (*cough* me! *cough*) that they can relate to who can show them a wide variety of trails to make it more appealing to them.

This is my favourite quote from the survey:

?If women see other women doing it they are more likely to try it.?

Kind of sums it up, don?t you think?

However, I do more than ride bikes. I?m also a volunteer at the BC Bike Race as the Safety Team Logistics Coordinator and one of the people behind the Facebook and Twitter accounts for the Island Cup Race Series. I also have a blog that is geared towards the woman mountain biker. You can find me on Twitter as well.

I?m currently riding a 2007 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Expert (Women?s) which I absolutely love. It?s the bike you see me on in the video above. Doesn?t it look like fun??
